Here are 5 things that were new to me from John Suarez’s entertaining presentation:
- Resume writers should be verb-aholics.
- Despite all we know about how technology is affecting resume delivery, write for the human eye first.
- Undergo job-hunting yourself to test your own resume.
- For each client, ask yourself, what is this person’s value proposition, and what proof supports it? (here, Deb Dib added that constantly keeping the value proposition in mind helps you edit out material that doesn’t support the proposition).
- Employ the 5-5-2 rule: No more than 5 lines of text, no more than 5 bullet points, and no more than 2 pages.
