While walking on the treadmill at my local YMCA recently, I was reading "Redbook" magazine. I came across an article on crazy ways to get a job, which I'll share below:
1) Wear your resume on your shirt. Yes, that's right, one woman actually used iron-on sheets to put her resume on a tee shirt and wore it everywhere.
2) Create a "Hire Me!" blog. One woman had her eye on a specific company and started a blog about their successes and what she could do to contribute. At a networking event she gave the COO a link to her blog and subsequently landed an interview and eventually a job.
3) Send a "Happy Meal." Antoher woman met with a PR firm that represents McDonald's. She made the interviewer a "Happy Meal" box which included question, "Why is Emily a good fit?" with multiple-choice answers, and put thank you notes inside. She was hired.
4) Try karaoke. One job-seeker wanted to study nursing but couldn't afford tuition. She entered a radio Careercoki.com contest where you could make a Web video pleading for a job. She wore a nurse uniform and sang "Bad case of the nursing blues" singing into a stethoscope, to the tune of "Bad Case of Loving You." She won!
What clever idea can you think of to land your next job?
