The other day I read a blog post someone tweeted telling the story of a c-level executive who landed a plum job through networking on Twitter. He tweeted that he had just been laid off and noted what kind of job he was looking for. A good number of his 3,000 plus followers immediately jumped in, spreading the word throughout their own networks. Because of their efforts, he landed a great gig within weeks. If you’re waffling about diving into Twitter, this story should make you think again and explore what it can do for you. Develop a strategic plan to focus and limit the time you spend on Twitter. Before you know it, an hour or two can pass noodling around on Twitter without purpose. That may represent precious time that should be devoted to other job search efforts – LinkedIn, face-to-face networking, etc. As I was searching for Twitter how-to help, I came across Michele Martin’s (@michelemmartin) list of 50 resources to “turbo-charge your networking” with Twitter on The Bamboo Project Blog. I was flattered to see she included one of my blog posts, Leveraging Twitter to Market Your Personal Brand. Here’s some of Michele’s list.
