Green Career Trends logo copy Finding creative solutions to reduce carbon emission can sometimes mean combining ideas.  Algaeus, a plug-in hybrid car that uses 5% algae based bio fuel is now on a cross country roadtrip.  The car is expected to get a reasonable 150 miles per gallon on the trip. Excel Energy and the city of Boulder, CO have combined forces to make Boulder the first fully functioning smart grid enabled city in the world.  The residents of Boulder that signed up for "Smart Grid City" now have energy use information from in-home energy management devices. By adding green features to foreclosed homes in Phoenix that are close to a light rail line, a couple of real estate investors are hoping to attract home owners interested in saving money on their utility and water bills as well as reduce their carbon footprints.  In Vermont and California, real estate developers are creating communities around organic farms. Benefits to residents include wholesome produce, permanent views, activities for children, walking and riding trails. Print This Post
