Tip-the-Scale Job Search Step

Looking for job openings and job leads would seem to be the most critical step in the job search process for job seekers. But is it really? The lack of this step, essential to the success of a job search, has been noted in reputable employer surveys over the years and in my own informal discussions with employers. Continue Reading »

Resume Writing for People Who Don’t Like to Brag

From BSafani. Posted under Resumes

From An Honest Day's Work. Posted under Career Management & Interviewing & Job Search

I have a confession to make – I hate interviews. And I don’t mean that I hate being an interviewer, I mean that I hate being an interviewee. It’s actually a big part of the reason that I like owning my own business – I didn’t have to interview with anyone to get the job. Yes, I know, it’s really strange that someone who is an interviewing expert, who has conducted thousands of interviews, and who interviews people every single day for a living, would actually HATE being on the other side of the table. You’d think that I would feel very comfortable sitting in the hot seat. That I’d know all of the interviewer’s tricks and have all of the right answers to his or her questions. Continue Reading »
