Pack Your Resume with Success Stories

From Quintessential Resumes and Cover Letters. Posted under Resumes

Career counselor Michelle Watson notes that “employers are seeking success stories.” In the Q&A interview she did with Quintessential Careers, Watson observed that “resumes are now focusing not only on “regular” job descriptions, but also include concrete, measurable accomplishments. Physical portfolios, long thought of as tools for artists, will become commonplace as candidates strive to show their talents, not just talk about them.”

Check Employer’s Instructions for Sending Resume/Cover Letter

From Quintessential Resumes and Cover Letters. Posted under Job Search & Resumes

Most corporate career centers give job-seekers explicit instructions for how they want to receive cover letters and resumes. Some request that you email the material, some request that you submit it via a form from the company’s Web site, a few request that you fax it, and a very small few ask you to mail it. Damage Control After Flawed Phone Interview

From The Career Doctor Blog. Posted under Interviewing & Job Search

Darby writes: I just had an over-the-phone job interview with a children’s museum this morning. I felt the interview did not go as well as I would have liked. The interviewer was rather rigid, and I felt the questions he asked did not probe into my strong points very well. I have a feeling they may be “using” me to show they are looking for a candidate “far and wide,” when in reality I do know they have people from within that are applying for the job. I would like to make a trip up to the museum to look around, and also to prove my sincerity. 1) But am I wasting my time? (It would be a 6-hour drive each way; I’d have to take off work, etc.) Continue Reading »
